It is designed to enable students to acquire understanding of genetics, its role in causation and management of defects and diseases. It focuses on review of cellular division of mitosis and meiosis, practical application of genetics in nursing, maternal, prenatal and genetic influences on development of defects and diseases, genetic testing in the neonates and children, genetic conditions of adolescents and adults, genetic counselling, legal and ethical issues, sex linked inheritance and errors in transmission.
